Enjoy one a magnificent baroque landscaping in The Vrtba Garden, a large garden built on the slope of Petrin Hill in Prague. Made up of Italian-style terraces connected by stairs and supported by curved walls, the garden features many exquisite sculptures of Ceres and Bacchus and elaborate rail guards crafted by some of the best artists of the 18th century Habsburg Prague. A circular pool with a statue of sea monster is surrounded by fine labyrinth topiary and live fences. Interior decorations have been well-preserved with fresco paintings and there is an aviary featuring some rare birds maintained by Prague Zoo. Enjoy views of the city from a tranquil spot. A beautiful garden hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the street. We really enjoyed this peaceful and pretty place and were able to get some great views over the city and castle.

The hidden gem of Prague, literally! It is quite easy to miss the entrance to the gardens, as the visitor has to pass through the archway, which is only marked by a small sign. Maybe thanks to that, the gardens are quiet and there aren't too many tourists. Tickets can be purchased for 120 CZK (€5) and the visitors can visit the three layers terraced, symmetrical baroque gardens and enjoy a breathtaking view of the panorama of Prague Castle and Lesser Town. Unfortunately, I couldn't visit the first terrace due to a wedding in progress, but there was a beautiful view from the balcony of the second terrace. The second/middle terrace, having a small a pond and a lot of places to sit, continues with a symmetrically arranged staircase to the highest and largest terrace, from where the first red rooftops and the panorama of Prague starts to appear. For the best view though, I had to climb to the arc looking like a building, where a small and very narrow deck is located. It can get crowded quite easily, but the views from here are unobstructed and frankly the best! I can't really get tired of these views. It's a perfect place to take a couple of photos also. From the top deck I was also able to fully appreciate the symmetry of the gardens and the beautifully trimmed and manicured lawn on the second terrace, where, among other things, I saw many statues and sculptures. A very nice informative brochure (one of the best actually) is available when buying a ticket, from which visitors can learn a lot of information and tips. The toilets are located before the entrance to the garden and plenty of souvenirs (postcards, magnets) can be purchased at the ticket office. Credit card payment possible. Visited August 2022.

Really beautiful gardens that are honestly worth the admission fee. Amazing view point over the city, really well maintained gardens with a lot of areas and different levels to explore. The place is quite big and you can easily spend about an hour there
