  • Azwa Mariam Monastery is a great and easily accessible ancient religious site at Zeghe peninsula, Lake Tana. You can take a 40 minutes boat ride to reach there. I recommend that visiting Azwa Mariam would be more interesting and more beneficial for local community, if local souvenirs sellers don't keep asking visitors to buy their items. It is also better for the sellers to have differentiated items for sale. Enjoy your visits to Azwa Mariam!
  • The monastery can be easily accessible after five minutes walk from the boat stop. Shopping different icons from locals until to the main gate of the monastery is usual which has replicas and symbols of the paintings from the main church. Don't forget that you are supporting the local community while you are buying those replicas and icons . The main gate of the church compound has three doors like the doors we found in holy of holies . The church has builted from mud mixed with straw and rocks between ....it has grass touched roof as well... don't forget to notice and ring the old or ancient time rock bell before you go inside the church .....
