Musee Somme 1916 is housed in a tunnel that served as an air-raid shelter during World War II. The original name, "Museum of Shelters," still lets you descend the tunnel to view the shelter with a diorama featuring two French soldiers, a German lookout covered in body armor and wearing a gas mask, a British medical post, artifacts, and a museum in a concrete tunnel. Excellent museum with audio visual and actual exhibits of the battle of the Somme. The museum is in Albert is close to the front line and is next the Basilica which was raised to the ground before and after the battle. Very informative with English French ab German translations. The museum is built in an underground tunnel which gives an eerie feel but adds to it overall delivery. We’ll worth a visit as a starting point any SOMME tour as it sets the scene well and gives great context

Must visit for history/WWI lovers!! Great collection and reconstruction of the horrible trench war. Three recommendations: 1) remove the 3D, just show normal 2D. 2) show movie in french, but add english subtitle, so you don't have to wait for 15 mins everytime. 3) sell more souvenirs of tiny action figure soldiers.
