Built from 1775 to 1779 by visionary architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux, Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans (La Saline Royale) now presents cultural projects and permanents exhibits and has rental halls available for private events. It is a semicircular complex with 11 independent buildings surrounded by 15 gardens that you can visit.   • The hotel is located in an excellent historic monument/environment. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are very basic though, no air conditioning and very small and unpractical bathrooms. Also you.....  more

  • I liked the gardens more than the exhibitions. Also, no photos from the exhibitions allowed. Go when there is a good event.
