Abbaye de Saint-Roman, Beaucaire

Recognized as a National Heritage Site of France, Abbaye de Saint-Roman served as a cave monastery for over a thousand years. You can explore a chapel, cloisters, tombs, terrace, and walls and networks of underground chambers. The abbey was constructed in the 9th, 10th, 12th, and 15th centuries. The path to the abbey leads past a large chamber and monks' cells to the tomb of Saint Roman in a chapel carved out of the limestone.
