This is one magnificent Church in Besançon. It's in the Battan quarter of Besançon on the left bank of the River Doubs. The roof tiles are of glazed chocolate and orange colour arrangements and can be appreciated from the right side of the river. The large classical façade is enhanced by a spectacularly unique interior. It's classified as a hall church as its central nave and the two sides aisles are of equal height and possibly width. This makes this church a spectacular site to admire and explore. This Church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene, one of thirty odd churches in France with the same dedication. Two intriguing features I enjoyed here; just behind the altar and above it is the fresco of the last supper and Mary Magdalene statue above it in an alcove. The organ gallery if you look closely, has Mary on its summit surrounded by buccinator angels! It really is worth spending time exploring the many features of this beautiful church and really take time to absorb its wondrous charm. Suitable for all ages and backgrounds. It normally opens daily until midday and later in the afternoon until about eight pm unless otherwise used for special purposes by the parish. Highly recommended if you are visiting Besançon.
It's always a pleasure to come to the teacher's table! We are never disappointed, we get what we pay for, the menus are very substantial (we had a very garnished hamburger, a mixed salad and a dish of fries with sauce), fresh products, pleasant staff who take great care of you and the very friendly boss .... See you soon !
