Create an itinerary including Grosse Cloche de Bordeaux
Grosse Cloche de Bordeaux is all that remains of an ancient entrance into the city. In years past, the bell rang for important events, such as the coming harvest or to alert the populace to a fire. The bell has always been important to the citizens. When Henry II wanted to punish them, he took the bell away.

Tour the ancient gate, the bell (this version was cast in 1775), and an astronomical clock that was added in 1759. While the bell doesn’t ring often, it offers visitors a striking sight in the heart of the city. • Clocktower situated on city gate from olden times - originally part of the city walls. Worth seeing for a photo when passing by, either on foot, or via the Bordeaux electric touring mini-train.

  • I didnt search for this place but I knew it already. And believe it or not, I found it accidentally :) which makes the "grosse cloche" my best. I tried to take the pictures for you, I tried to show you that made me love that place the most. I want to ride my horse to pass under where makes me feel like I am living in the medieval ages.
  • Amazing landmark. Places like that makes wandering around the city so much more enjoyable! I wish they would do tours inside it.
