    Very beautiful canal, extremely dirty though. Locks are mostly automatic but due to some being so close together they are often operated in sequence so you may have to wait a while at either end for the current traffic to pass.

    A well maintained waterway with very few facilities for porting equipment if you are a kayak or canoe person,this may involve pulling up very steep banks( see photo) after using the machete to cut away prickly brambles ! many wild camping opportunities however, so why pay to camp when birdsong,not barking dogs,can wake you in the mornings!
