Domaine Marcel Richaud, Cairanne

Definintely a benchmark producer for A.O.C. Cairanne. Well crafted honest wines that are fairly priced. The tasting area is very welcoming and the staff is professional. They do 60% of their sales from the domaine so they are set up to recieve clients for tastings and sales.

I have loved Marcel Richaud's work for many years. I opened a 2016 Cairanne this evening... The aromas of black fruits and the few hints of spice make this wine exceptional. A very good length in the mouth allows you to appreciate the complexity of this superbly worked wine. Despite its age we are still on the fruit in an incredible way.... I recommend with eyes closed.
