Create an itinerary including Chateau de Couches
Admire the diverse architecture and great views over Mont Rome at Chateau de Couches, a castle that once served as the residence of Margaret of Burgundy. Opt for a full tour and view the dungeon and underground galleries from the 12th century, the tower and chapel from the 15th century, and the troubadour-style residence from the 15th century. Relax in the small but lush topiary garden, where you can gaze at the house, or view the artifacts in the chapel, including furniture, tapestries, and stained-glass windows. Some tours are offered in English but can still be difficult to understand, so consider reading up on the attraction beforehand. • Wonderful discovery! We stayed here one night, did the castle tour, wine tasting, and dinner at the restaurant. I have nothing but the most positive things to say! Beautiful grounds and chateau. Self guided tour with a recording that was available in English. Kind and friendly staff. Wonderful dinner at the restaurant (kudos to the chef and team). Fantastic, beautiful, big room with great bedding and bath products. Note: There are only 3 rooms. If you are headed this way, I highly recommend!
  • This chateau is incredibly disorganised and does not honour bookings made. I booked a special event through their website called a “La Pièce de Boeuf”. The deal included a tour of the estate, followed by an aperitif, and five course meal celebrating beef with matching wines. This deal was available only this Saturday and Sunday. Receiving a confirmation email we were looking forward to this event. When we arrived we were asked to immediately sit in the restaurant and told that we could order a three course lunch from their daily blackboard - which didn’t include any beef dishes. As this was not what we had booked we showed them our booking again as well as the event on their own website. Those we dealt with seemed to have no awareness of their own event, or made any attempt to find out more from management. They offered us a glass of wine as our aperitif outside but couldn’t offer a tour of the estate. By this time it was obvious that we weren’t going to be offered the deal we had booked and that the team really couldn’t care. So, unfortunately, we had no other alternative and walked out.
