One of the world's largest and most prominent of champagne producers, Moet et Chandon was established in 1743 by Claude Moët. Dom Pérignon, acquired in 1930 from Mercier Champagne, is vintage champagne that is only made in the best year of harvested grapes with 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir grapes.
Today this vineyard and winery owns more than 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) of land and annually produces approximately 26,000,000 bottles of champagne. This winery is owned under the label Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) and holds a Royal Warrant to supply champagne to Queen Elizabeth II.
You can tour Moët & Chandon’s historic buildings and subterranean labyrinth of cellars, the largest in the Champagne region, spanning 28 km (17.4 mi). Advanced bookings for the tour are necessary and include either one flute tasting of champagne or two with the upgraded tour. The guided tour through the kilometre-long cellars is very exciting. You see an incredible number of bottles filled with champagne. You learn a lot about the history and production of champagne. At the end of the tour you get a taste... The shop, polished to a high gloss, can't keep up: there is no feeling of authenticity, you feel more like you are at some airport somewhere in the world.

Great place to start your visit to Epernay. Lovely boutique store which is open for everyone, you do not need to do a tour. Plenty of opportunity to buy Moët champagne plus other branded items. Stocks Dom Perignon champagnes as well (they are owned by Moët).
