  • We were on a long trek, but this was a must-visit, so we joined the very mixed group of people heading to see this amazing place.

  • After hiking to the hotel on a well kept wide trail one can venture to the base of the waterfall. The trail gets a bit harder than the nice trail to the hotel as it is much more rocky at first then followed by some loose material towards the end as you start getting to the steeper section. The scale is impressive and the views gorgeous from the base of the falls.
  • Parking in Gavarnie is 5€ for a car. You can see the Cirque de Gavarnie from the town, but you can get closer by taking at stroll along a marked path to the Hotel de Cirque which takes around 1 1/2 hours. You can take your dog on this section, bicycles are not allowed. Once you reach the Hotel de Cirque you can continue for another hour to get to the foot of the waterfall - this walk is rockier and dogs are forbidden. Stunning scenery.
