The art of nature is complemented with the art of humans at the Musee de Grenoble, founded by Louis-Joseph Jay in 1798. Although, Jay had to fight to have his plans approved for the 18,270 sq m ( 196,657 sq ft) building, it was eventually completed and touts an uninterrupted tour from 12th to 21st century art. There are artifacts on multiple floors, but don’t forget to visit the museum’s impressive collection of 19th- and 20th-century African artifacts located downstairs. • Lots of fantastic artwork from centuries ago to the modern era. Restaurant 5 in the attached building is very good also.

  • The antiquities are under construction at that time. Had to wait in front of the cashier for several minutes while there is no queue because they were talking to each other. The floor map is helpful but the English audioguide (2€) was only available for several pieces. Under 26 years old can get in for free.
  • Amazing artworks that go back to the 15th century or later and all the way up to 21st century modern art. You will find artists like Michelangelo, Picasso and Monet, but also a large amount of others. The collection is really huge here, meaning we were not able to see everything even with 3 hours. At the end on a level below there is an Egyptian exhibition that we unfortunately could not reach due to the museum closing. Still would highly recommend!
