Cite Medievale de Guerande was built to protect salt flats in the marshes below. Formidable ramparts guard the city’s entrance; they still look as if they were completed just days before you arrived. Two towers flanking the main gate have had a number of uses since their construction: as guard towers, a prison, a city hall, and, finally, a museum with artifacts, costumes, and information about military history on display. Inside the walls, the most notable point of interest is Saint Aubin’s Church, a popular place of worship and study in the 9th century. Loved this, medievil town, quaint shops, narrow streets, festival time, had to pay though to walk on rampants and only during day allowed
