Col de la Bonette is a high mountain pass in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. It is approximately 2,715 m (8,907 ft) high. It is situated within the Mercantour National Park on the border of the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The road is the seventh highest paved road in the Alps.

You will see a signpost at the foot of the climb which reads "Col de la Bonette- 2802 m above sea level, highest road in Europe". This claim is incorrect for various reasons. It is, however, the highest asphalted road in France and is the highest through road in Europe. This col is a must do when you are in the neighborhood, by car or by bike! This road is the highest one of Europe! The views are stunning and the bike ride to the top is fantastic!

Very nice pass. Luckily there weren't that many motorcyclists on the road. We also saw marmots. The route is great, we will definitely come here again.
