Musee d’art Moderne Andre Malraux - MuMa
The impressionist painting collection at Musee d’art Moderne Andre Malraux - MuMa is the second most extensive in France, after that of the Orsay Museum in Paris. Facing the sea, this museum is a smooth, transparent assembly of glass and steel posed on a concrete pad. The large windows let in the highly variable light of the Normandy coast (carefully filtered to protect the art, of course)--a light that inspired many of the painters in the museum's collections. There are works by Claude Monet and other well-known artists, including Corot, Delacroix, Courbet, Degas, Manet, Renoir, Gauguin, Sisley, and Pissarro. The museum houses the largest collection of works by Eugène Boudin in the world. Modern art is also well represented here. Excellent collection of impressionist paintings along with some other odds and ends that relate to the city. Really enjoyed the collection of Dufy paintings. The setting is great, with glass views out to the ocean.

Chaotic exhibition, with numbering for the audio guide either missing (ground floor) or in random order. Confusingly, it includes not just modern art, but also some older paintings. Quality of the audio guide also very uneven. Bad light even for highlights. There are some great paintings there, and for some painters (Dufy, Boudin) there is an interesting selection which could be transformed into an interesting story, but now you just feel lost.
