Find Cyrano de Bergerac seducing maidens with the power of words in Entre Cours et Jardins - Cite Plantagenet of Le Mans--or at least visit where Gerard Depardieu filmed his version of Cyrano in 1989. The well-preserved half-timber house-fronts and cobblestone streets of this neighborhood take you to another time, when musketeers fought for honor and died for love. Be sure to stop for a glass of wine at one of the many cafes to enjoy your moment of Bergerac romance. Before returning to the present, pass by the Roman ruins to give a salute to empires past. • The tall city walls are very impressive with the patterned brickwork. If approaching from the old town, you need to be reasonably mobile as there are a lot of steps.

  • Brilliant place with loads of history, car park just by the church pay at meter ok for 1hr . 30 mins about 4 euro but jumps up to 30 euro after that. Spent one and half hours strolling around the amazing little streets and had a coffee.
  • Spent the morning walking around the old town, has lots of lovely old building and small little alley ways etc. The cathedral is massive and probably the biggest ive been too, its well worth a visit to get the true scale of the building. There are a number of cafes and restaurants to eat at or get a drink on a hot day, the view from the top of the old town is just breath taking
