Les 2 Alpes, Les Deux-Alpes

A glacier ensures year-round skiing, but what makes Les 2 Alpes resort stand out is the funicular tunneled underneath the ice, which transports you up the mountain to 3,450 m (11,319 ft). The resort's name, meaning "two alps," does not refer to the two facing mountain-sides. Rather it refers to two adjacent areas of the pasture on the north-south plateau, where the resort is tabled between steep peaks. Access the resort by road from the north. No road connects the resort to the south, but a romantic gondola does, as well as a footpath open in the summer.
