The Musée des Confluences is a science centre and anthropology museum which opened on 20 December 2014 in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, (Rhône), France. It is located at the southern tip of the Presqu'île at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône, adjacent to Autoroute A7, and comprises part of a larger redevelopment project of the Confluence quarter of Lyon. The deconstructivist architectural design, said to resemble a floating crystal cloud of stainless steel and glass, was created by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au.By using our Lyon travel itinerary planner, you can arrange your visit to Musee des Confluences and other attractions in Lyon.

Family friendly, unique building and exhibitions. We sought out on a cold rainy January day and it was perfect. As an Australian we were surprised to see how much indigenous art was included!

My review refers to the external structure, as I have not had the opportunity to visit it internally. Well, it really is a very, very strange structure, even if it is useful to be able to shelter from the hot Lyon sun and it is also located in a fairly nice area of the Confluence district. Anyway, I've heard that the museum inside is really nice!

Most interesting museum located at the confluence between the Saone and Rhone rivers in Lyon. Each room exhibits a concept such as life and death, society, evolution of species, creation of the universe. The concepts can evoke deep thoughts, perhaps beyond those of young children. Nevertheless there is still plenty for young people to see. The light filled and spacious building housing the exhibits is a unique modern architectural design, well worth the visit on its own.
