Mont Saint-Michel
For stunning medieval architecture that is surprisingly intact and well preserved, visit Mont Saint-Michel. You'll be amazed by the abbey's staggering architectural marvels dating back to the Roman Empire, as well as the visible time progression of this massive megastructure, which takes you on a journey towards more Gothic styles. The monastery and abbey are at the very top of the town, supplying panoramic views of the entire island and surrounding waters. You can book a guided tour or, if you prefer to wander on your own, pick up an audio guide in English. The welcome center also offers a free printed brochure that makes a great souvenir. I opted for a Blue Fox tour from Paris to get to the Mont. It's a full 4 hours each way with about 4 hours on the island. It makes for a long day, but it is doable. A full day on the island would be..... more

No need to write about what you can seen, feel and live few hours spending there. More about practicalities of visit. First entrance is at 9, we went there at 10. Still ok. Park the car and walk...

Mont Saint-Michel. 🇫🇷 is the spectacular mountain located in the sea on the border of Normandy and Brittany. 🤎Next to the abbey a small village has arisen at the foot of the abbey. Perhaps the most spectacular of Mont Saint-Michel is the view of the mountain from afar. Because the nearby landscape is quite flat, you can see the mountain from afar. Mother soul alone in a great plain of sand and sea suddenly an abbey rises out of the waves.

It was nice. From the terrace you have a breathtaking view, but honestly not much more. The rooms are all quite massive and at a first glance spectacular. But for my own personal taste a bit empty, dark and underwhelming. A few spots here and there deserved a picture, but not many. I'm happy I was in the free-entry age group and I didn't get to pay 11€ to get in.
