The canal passes through the center of the city with many parks along its sides. It has some locks but very little boat traffic. The water is brown but it's still nice to walk along.

Didn't try any of the boat tours and the like. It is just there, though a wee stroll along the banks by the boats is pleasant enough. It's presence does add to the city.

Loved walking around the canal. Even better, we biked the canal area with 3 young kids in tow. It was easy and enjoyable. The bike rental was nearby the bridge. So convenient to have an hour ride along the canal with the vast views of the region and along the waterway. A lovely way to see the area.3 adults bike and 2 kids bike , around Euro50 for all 5 bikes. A must do when in this canal area in summertime.
