Musee d'Art et d'Histoire, Narbonne

The collection didn’t interest me enough to pay to visit. However the building itself is great. You can also view the replica of Rome’s gift to Narbonne on the 2100 anniversary of its founding (it is also repeated on an arch at Pl De la Forum)

Very attentive and friendly staff, they love to tell you all about the place’s history and how the museum works. Because the joint Narbonne tickets encompasses a lot of different sights, it could be very confusing to see what is what and where is where, but everyone is ready to help you out. The art collection is lovely, with a wide selection of periods and styles, also good to see that there is incredible information on the function of the old rooms of the palace. What could be said is that the orientalism room is highly problematic and should be closed immediately. Such fetishism towards the middle east based on incorrect facts and seeing them as ‘others’ (read Said) is highly unacceptable in today’s age.
