Explore exhibits of art, history, and archeology in the museums of Palais des Archeveques. Constructed to be a fortress and private residence for the archbishop, the palace saw building in the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries. Today the apartments house three museums. In the Musée Archéologique you can see Bronze Age tools, prehistoric artifacts, 14th-century frescoes, and Greco-Roman items. The Musée d'Art et d'Histoire showcases a Roman mosaic floor, portraits, sculpture, enamels, and antique porcelain. We only had a short time to spend here but enjoyed the visit. The staff were exceptionally informative and welcoming. There was a lovely exhibit in the last two rooms which we particularly enjoyed.

Certainly a "Must See" attraction in Narbonne. Tickets are 6 Euro and allow you to visit a number of room in the palace. A climb to the tower top is worth the 149 steps up the spiral staircase and the views out over Narbonne are great. My favourite was the actual Archbishop's residence which is now an art gallery. The rooms displaying the are are almost better than the art itself. ALso be sure to see the gargoyles guarding the garden.

A flight up to the top of the tower (162 steps) provided a good panoramic view of Narbonne. Ticket price of 6 euros provided access to the tower, the art museum and the cathedral.
