Castel Plage, Nice

Nothing sparkling but the fact that it is on the beach and has a nice view. We had a 3 steps menu. But desert was not to choose, we couldn’t have millefeuille even though was on the menu. Food was ok’ish, trying to make a value for the money. Staff was ok, but our waiter was distracted or ignorant.

After a day of climbing up Castle hill to see the waterfall and the panoramic views of Nice and the Mediterranean we worked up quite the appetite. At the bottom of the hill we crossed the street to the beach and found Castel Plage. It’s a fun mix of casual but nice dinning, a great bar and lounge chairs for sunning. The atmosphere is beach chill but fine dining chic. We had a tempting grilled octopus with pasta and artichoke in a tomato sauce, and fresh fish and shell fish fritto misto served with crispy fries. It was sooooo yummy. Even the tartar sauce was different and yummy. For dessert we had pear sorbet with pear brandy. What a neat place for a happy meal!
