View exquisite military pieces spanning from antiquity through the 20th century at The Army Museum. This museum curates the third largest arms collection in the world. Artifacts and contemporary pieces include suits of armor, swords, cannons, guns, and a tank from the 1940s. Learn the history of several wars through the stories told by everyday objects--like postcards and letters from the battlefields of World War I and World War II. Hunt down all 24 significant treasures from the Middle Ages through World War II. One of the treasures is the sword used by Francis I during the 16th century, another is a burgonet from the 1550s worn by Henry II, and a third treasure is the iconic bicorn hat worn by Napoléon I. A wonderful and huge, and I mean very extensive, museum of French military history. I cannot overstate the size of this place, I spent four hours in the wings covering the two world wars alone. And there is so much more to see! The exhibit titles are in several languages, but the full explanation is all in French. You can get audio guides but I just read the signs as best I could. Don't forget to see the Tomb of Napoleon while you're here, it's pretty unforgettable.

The museum is huge and if you are a history fanatic you can spend the whole day there. Even though the WW1 and WW2 sections are temporarily closed (until summer 2023) I spend around 4 hours navigate myself around the exhibitions. For sure the part related to Napoleon's era is the most interesting. Finally the section of Charles Degaulle is also unique.
