Designed by famed Swiss architects Le Corbusier and his cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, Villa Savoye represents a modern architectural masterpiece open to the public. The Savoye family commissioned the house as a country retreat in 1928, and it was finished in the early 1930s. The home became Corbusier's best-known building from the era, as it exerted an enormous influence on the international modernism architectural movement through its design. During World War II, Nazis sent the family to a concentration camp and used the house for storage. Wonderful architectural house, it’s one architectural icon. However, they should do a better job at maintaining it. It’s such a beautiful house but it looks decrepit and like it’s falling apart. Getting here is quite a journey: train ride and then take the cab or the bus. The grounds of the house are large and the house is very nice but wished they’d maintain it better.
