  • Obviously this is a church ment for the inhabitants, not for tourists. And so it should be. Very modest church, with some nice paintings and decorations on the inside. A visit of ten to fifteen...

  • Ramatuelle, along with Grimaud and Gassin, are three particularly attractive villages and provide a welcome alternative to the hustle and bustle of chic St. Tropez. In Ramatuelle is this beautiful...

  • A charming church in an equally charming village.
  • Located in the center of this medieval village, perched on the east side of the Paillas hill, overlooking the coast from the Plage de Pampelonne to Cap Camarat with its lighthouse and reaching the Escalet. Full of tourist attractions, the Notre Dame church is among them. The current single-nave structure was built at the end of the Wars of Religion, between the 16th and 17th centuries. Its bell tower, on the other hand, is older! A vestige of a 14th century watchtower, adapted. The entrance door, dated 1620, is peculiar, all in dark marble, the veins range from green to bluish, extracted from the quarries of the nearby Massif des Maures. The restoration of the church allowed the exceptional discovery of 17th century decorations: false marble panels, with columns and capitals, crowned with friezes of floral decorations and acanthus leaves. You can see the decorations on the right choir. The large polychrome wooden altarpiece, from the 17th century, has inside a canvas of the Virgin crowned with Child, in which St. Michael and John the Baptist is represented. On the sides of the nave, there are sculptures of saints including the patron saint. Above the altarpiece there is a painting of the Virgin rising in a golden aura, dressed in white and blue, with little angels at the feet; in the corners of this central focus, the animal symbols of the 4 evangelists. Higher up, on the apse ceiling, the dove of the Holy Spirit in a golden medallion framed by clouds interspersed with child angels. Below two angels pray kneeling, on the side a Latin writing "Come to me, all you who are fatigued and oppressed, and I will refresh you" (Matthew's Gospel).
