Chapelle Foujita was constructed at Rue de la Mars in 1965-1966 by the Japanese artist, Tsuguharu Foujita. It is most famous for the frescos he hand painted in the interiors. A converted catholic, Foujita designed the chapel, all of the ironwork, stained glass, and the sculptures. At the age of 80, he painstakingly painted the frescoes in blues, greens, yellows, and browns with Christian themes, as well as with depictions of his friend and his wife. The Catholic diocese consecrated the chapel in 1966, and France listed it as an historic monument in 1992. The paintings are very beautifull. Worthwhile visiting! And across the street you will find Mumm, a producer of fine champagne

Mr Fujita, known as a École de Paris’s painter was baptised at Cathédrale Notre Dame de Reims. His artworks are unique, sophisticated and somewhat lovely. Quite interesting to see since its atmosphere is kind of religious and french-Japanese mixed, plus full of hope.
