Many tour guides skip Rennes, a "City of Art and History," but that doesn't mean you should. This college town is fun for an overnight visit because of it's spirited nightlife. Start the night off on the "Street of Thirst," actually called Rue Saint Michel. Thursdays are the best nights for a wild time in the city center. The student population makes up for a quarter of the population. This city has a long history dating back to the Roman era due to its strategic location at the confluence of two rivers the Ille and the Vilaine, as well as historic buildings, and traditional, colorful half-timbered houses in the historic center.
