Ranked "garden prestige type 1" by the city of Rennes, Parc du Thabor is a public park on more than 10 hectares (24 acres) of land with a mix of French gardens, an English garden, and a large botanical garden. Its name refers to Mount Tabor, the mountain overlooking the Sea of ??Galilee in Israel. The monks of Saint-Melaine Abbey started their vegetable gardens here in the 18th century, and that tradition of growing botanicals has persisted since then. • Wonderfully fun park. Close to where our residence was located, this venue features sprawling lawns, a decent playground for kids (which my little daughter stubbornly refused to leave...) and a big bird cage featuring specimens from all over the world. This was definitely my favourite feature. Only downside was the shocking state of the toilets in the park. Definitely worth visiting if you have a young child with too much energy ;)
  • A beautiful park in the centre of Rennes, in the spring and summer it is full of flowers and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the day or watch your children play in the children's playground. There is a small bar/restaurant which serves simple food and a variety of beverages, but you can always bring a picnic as there is plenty of grassed areas to sit and relax. If you like birds there are a variety of chickens, ducks budgies and pigeons throughout the parc. A great place to spend a morning or afternoon 😁
