  • Nice place, with dramatic landscape. An easy walk through the valley, with possibilities for more advanced hikes. Entry to the parking is 6EUR and it will bring you ~3 km closer to the valley.
  • This is an extraordinary location. At the end of the Giffre Valley you are surrounded by walls of stone that tower above to form a natural amphitheatre over 1,000m high. It is impossible to capture the magnificence of the location with a camera. There are walking trails, waterfalls, horse rides , restaurants, woodlands, lakes and meadows to explore. This is definitely a place where you can spend a whole day taking in all the sites and more importantly just absorbing the atmosphere. On a practical note the Cirque is a short drive from Sixt and Samoens and there is a free car park at the entrance (with a 30 minute walk to the main area) or you can go to the upper car park where you pay but it is only a two minute walk. There is a information centre where you can get all the help you need to plan a fantastic day. There are camp sites nearby as well as hotels and other accommodation all within a 15 minute drive. I used the French government's map service Géoportail which is available online or at the app store and is a brilliant place for looking at topographical maps and planning a walking route in advance. It is easy to forget quite how enormous this place is and what looks like a short stroll may well be a 3km walk. As a family we were all blown away by how special this place is and will definitely return if we are ever in the vicinity in the future.
