An open-air village museum, Ecomusee d'Alsace invites you into 73 historic Alsatian-style buildings filled with 40,000 items donated by enthusiastic Alsatians. Each house includes furniture, items from daily life, clothing, tools, and agricultural machinery from the mid 19th century up to the 1950s. Peek into life in an Alsatian village, observing a teacher in the old schoolhouse, a farmhouse with old farming machinery, and a kitchen with a traditional wood-burning stove. Listen to audio commentary in English, French, or German at 36 kiosks scattered throughout the village, describing the region's history, daily life, and the items on display. You can visit the apiary, milk cows, watch artisans create crafts, see an old-fashioned mill in operation, and smell fresh-baked traditional goods. Workshops throughout the season feature artisans making local crafts using traditional methods. Lastly, be sure to visit "Eden Palladium," a collection of antique carousels and carnival attractions that still function. Very nice museum village. A lot of historic homes and professions on display. Shows showcasing animal and field work are usually in french. Nice bakery, but unfortunately and weekends with very long waiting lines. It is very nice to see the effort the staff puts in to maintain the village and it's offerings
