  • The reproduction is fantastic. Our complaint is that the tech running the guided visit for non-french speakers doesn't work well. The lights go out before you can finish listening to a particular...

  • The highlight of our holiday. Exceptionally well done. Don't worry that it is a copy of the original cave. If you were blind folded, you would NOT know you were in a copy. They have done it that...

  • It is so sad that I find myself giving such a poor review of such a wonderful set of drawings and paintings even if they are copied from the original. I took the tour with a English Audio guide. Unfortunately the audio description quickly fell behind the French speaking guide and I found myself listening to the description of the works whilst the lights were being turned off automatically as the group moved on. Eventually all those listening to the audio guides about 14 of us were left in the last section of the cave listening to a description of the drawings in darkness. I complained to the guide who said there was nothing she could do and had herself raised the issue with her manager but nothing had been done. Sadly it seems this UNESCO protected site seems to have been turned into a ‘Disneyland’ sausage machine tourist trap rather than a place to wonder at what are extraordinary examples of our prehistoric forebears attempts to picture their world and record their place in it.
  • Absolutely brilliant reconstruction of the Chauvet cave. It looks very realistic. Though lacks the sounds and smells of a real cave. Guided tours last an hour and are interesting (a bit too much detail for my 10 year old son though). The rest of the site is certainly worth exploring.
