Musee Escoffier de l'Art Culinaire
French culinary history comes alive at Musee Escoffier de l'Art Culinaire, located inside the former home of famed chef and writer Georges Auguste Escoffier. A place of pilgrimage for impassioned foodies from around the globe, the museum pays homage to a legendary figure who many consider the founding father of modern French cuisine. Called the "king of chefs and chef of kings" by French journalists, Escoffier simplified and modernized numerous elaborate preexisting recipes in addition to inventing many of his own. The museum preserves several of the chef's menus and photographs, and highlights the methods he used to introduce organized discipline into professional kitchens.
