Jagged peaks, large rock walls, and pine trees twisted by the wind characterize Aiguilles de Bavella (Bavella Needles). Seven violet porphyry towers or needles make up the mountainous range, with the highest peak reaching 1,899 m (6,230 ft). The GR 20 (Grande Randonnée hiking trail) passes at the foot of the needles in the Asinao Valley, which is why many people refer to this area as the Towers Asinao. This is a hiking and rock climbing paradise with a multitude of jagged rocky peaks and vast forests with black pine. You can hike a relatively easy path by going to the right of the fountain and walking along the river to see the famous "hole in the bomb" at a height of 1,483 m (4,865 ft). A few miles from the road at the top of the rocky pass stands the soaring white statue of "Notre-Dame des Neiges" (Our Lady of the Snow).
