See one of the most comprehensive collections of wild animals in the entire world--nearly 20,000 animals--at Zoo Berlin. The country's oldest and best-known zoo opened in 1844 and covers more than 34 hectares (84 acres). More than 3 million visitors each year come to the zoo and its adjoining aquarium, making it the most-visited site of its kind in all of Europe. The zoo is known worldwide for sheltering endangered animals, such as polar bears and giant pandas. Check the website for feeding times and other special events. Absolutely perfect zoo!! The buildings in the zoo were so fun and well done and it made us feel like we were at a theme park. So many animals and so well kept. This is one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to!! I have already recommended for anyone visiting to go here. It was very large and you could easily spend the entire day there. They are also adding a huge new area that looks like it’s going to be super nice and I want to go back and see that once it’s done!

One of our favorite family go to places in Berlin. It's always a delightful experience and a great way to spend the afternoon. Very informative as well. Staff will occasionally stand near various places to answer questions and there are lots of informative plaques. And, very important to us, the animals never seem board or complacent. The environments are very well kept and there are always new things for the animals to see or explore. An overall great experience Everytime.
