Nicknamed "the balcony of Europe," Bruehlsche Terrasse offers superb views of the River Elbe. Take a walk down the terrace to admire the historic buildings and picturesque surroundings. Pause near the Johann Friedrich Böttger monument to look for a fingerprint in the guardrail of the terrace garden. It is said to have been left by August the Strong and to be proof of his strength. • We were brought here after dark one weekday evening recently - by the city dungeon keeper! We were on a walking tour to discover the macabre side of this fascinating city. Anyway he brought us up onto the terrace and we had a chance to both gain a wonderful night time view of the river and to listen to the various medieval methods of effecting punishment of the villainous inhabitants of this fair city all those years ago. That evening it was quite busy and it is easy to understand why. The views are fantastic.
  • Very pleasant place for view and food. There are good restaurants for candle light dinner little expensive than normal restaurants. Good for couples.
