Create an itinerary including Viktualienmarkt
Wander through the buzzing stalls of Viktualienmarkt, Munich's largest outdoor market. Originally started as a farmer's market in the early 19th century, the market has become a popular delicatessen. You can find gourmet goods and locally made products, as well as an array of fresh meats and produce. Pick up a loaf of fresh, oven-baked bread and a refreshing, fresh-squeezed juice. Walk around to admire the abundance of hand-made Bavarian goods. Stop by the beer garden if you'd like a typical meal of German sausages. Plan to see Viktualienmarkt and other attractions that appeal to you using our Munich trip planner.

  • The variety within the market is mind blowing. Deli meats, olives, garlic, seafood etc etc...fruit and veg, and even the odd trinkets...it's all here and a must visit while in Munich

  • This is a real farmer's market for locals, but visitors are welcome as well. And you can find lunch here without much effort. And if you don't like the market, you can find traditional restaurants in....  more

  • I did not spend the time I had loved to there, but it is a beautiful market outdoors that has so many different products. I must come back soon to give it the proper attention and to actually buy things :).
  • Great produce market in the middle of Munich. Mix of offerings for tourists but also good amount of produce and deli. The Beergarden in the middle is also great. The tables with tablecloths are waiter serviced area where one can order food. The plain tables are self service and one can bring own food as long as purchasing a drink. Great way to mingle with other people on the big communal tables.
