Enjoy some of the best views of the scenic Borzsony Hills and the winding Danube from atop Visegrad Citadel. The fortress served as the storehouse for the Hungarian crown jewels from the time of its completion in 1249 until 1440. Climb the stairs within and notice the solid rock walls and surrounding moats. Check out the displays on falconry and traditional regional occupations near the east gate. If you choose to walk, chose from two paths: one that begins near Solomon’s Tower and leads you through the woods, and another, less-steep route leaving from the town center. Both paths are fairly demanding, so consider taking the city bus up for an easier trip. Use our Visegrad trip planner to add Visegrad Citadel and other attractions to your Visegrad vacation plans.

  • Was very interesting. The ticket prices are very low, and you can get a view on the royal palace, there are multiple videos helping you imagine how the palace looked in different times and also how was the life in the palace through the centuries. If you are in Visegrad thisnusnhighly recommended :)
