Wild Encounters, Kilmeedy

Lovely little zoo with a variety of different birds and animals and they also have a reptile house which is quite cool. We got to pet a barn owl and the visit was very entertaining and enjoyable. The zoo is currently being extended so there will be even more animals in the future.

We had planned to go to another farm further away but found this gem by accident. 8euro per child ( i think)Although it is a small space there is lots to see. Raccoons, meerkats, a parrot, owls, reptiles, snakes, tarantulas, goats, pigs, rabbits and a hedgehog to name a few, lots more to see. There's a playground on sand with something for everyone. There's a picnic area to stop and have lunch also. At certain times a guide will give talks on particular animals. The owl one was our favourite, the kids can stroke the owl! It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we took our time and enjoyed every minute of it. Also there's a small cafe, a toilet and changing unit for babies. An absolutely fabulous day was had and I could not recommend wild encounters highly enough.
