  • This is a really good exhibition on the famine; based on Roscommon, but typical of the whole island of Ireland. Give yourself a half day, as the written material adds significantly to the displays.....  more

  • We visited the famine museum and the grounds. The museum is informative and well worth a visit. The audio guides are useful and included in the admission price. (I'd say the museum is not really suitable for young children - there are darkened rooms and lots of detail to read or listen to.) Outside, the gardens have the potential to be lovely, but at present some parts are very overgrown and filled with weeds.
  • The Park's House has been opened after an extensive refurbishment and it's spectacular. The fairy woodland walk and Victorian Gardens are a treat too. The House now also boasts a cafe and gift shop with the entrance akin to that of a five star hotel. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating for families. Can't wait to go back again.
