Create an itinerary including Cattedrale di San Rufino
A visit to Cattedrale di San Rufino will have you at the doors of one of the most important churches in the history of the Franciscan order. It is also famous for being the church in which Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Clare, and many of their disciples were baptized. The cathedral originated in the 12th century, after the bishop of Assisi had a miraculous vision. The Romanesque facade is a typical example of 12th-century Umbrian churches, and is divided into three levels featuring highly decorative friezes. Visit the famous font inside, and at the same time take a look at the underground crypt, which houses a Roman sarcophagus from the third century. • It is cool and peaceful inside. Another great cathedral on the top of the hill in Assisi. Free to enter but there is a charge for being blesssed.
