Built on the site of a sixth-century monastery, Monte Cassino was designed by some of southeastern Europe's finest artists before its papal consecration in 1041. The abbey has been restored since its destruction in 1944 during the Battle of Monte Cassino. View relics, mosaics, manuscripts, and other artifacts as you wander the hallways and courtyards. The hike to the monastery, which is on a 520 m (1,706 ft) high hill, is extremely steep. Plan to take public transportation to the top. History, Architecture, Sculpture and many other magical input are in this place. built many times and ruined during wars... the place should be visited.

One of the places to be visited. Historical place with long history and devastating demolish during WWII. The beauty is breathtaking, the view too. Highly recommend to be visited. I will do again.
