Look for a curious collection of columns and a 13th-century labyrinth at . Its grand apse and campanile date back to 1063, while the Gothic nave and transepts are from the 14th century. According to local legend, the city held a contest among artists for the best column. Instead of choosing a winner, the townspeople decided to take them all without paying the artists. The labyrinth on the right pier of the portico is thought to predate the famous Chartres maze. You may even catch an organ performance, which will be enhanced by the stone structure's incredible acoustics. • Lucca is a very lovely city, 30 minutes train ride from Pisa. Lots of amazing buildings and nice shops. Not so crowded as Pisa or Florence, a breath of fresh air.

  • I bought the combo ticket for 10 euro, which includes the cathedral, the bell tower and the museum. The cathedral is the highlight of the show. It is filled with beautiful sculptures , frescos and paintings. The museum is just OK, 10 minutes in and out, not much to see. The view from the top of the bell tower is very good, but you can't take a single photo, because all the windows are covered with dense metal wires.
  • Bell tower is a must see, must go. For the entry of 3€ each some spectacular views at the top
