Sitting on a hill facing Lake Orta, Sacro Monte di Orta is a Roman Catholic religious structure with chapels dating from the 16th century. I recommend visiting this holy place. There is a very pleasant climb up from the town, conferring delightful views across Lake Orta to the island (Isola Orta). The 21 chapels and the figures they contain depict the story of St. Francis and the mountain top itself is a tranquil and calming destination.

This compleanno is incredibly beautiful, quite similar to the Sacro Monte di Varallo but maybe a bit bigger. They’re both quite close to each other so you could see both on the same day
