Create an itinerary including Duomo di Ostuni
Seated atop the highest hill in the city, and dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption, Duomo di Ostuni is a late Gothic-style cathedral, begun in 1435 and completed some 60 years later. Walk through the narrow cobbled streets of the whitewashed old town and up the hill to the imposing basilica. Explore the interior, which was rebuilt in the 18th century in the Latin-cross plan, and is composed of three naves, supported by two rows of supporting columns. The church contains several paintings depicting the life of Jesus, also from the 1700s. Duomo di Ostuni is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

  • The church is unique and has a very interesting rose window which is similar to the one in Lecce. Very nice frescoes inside.

  • Saw Duomo open and jumped in. Fabulous statue of St Francis. The facial expression is unforgettable. Closed in the afternoon.

  • It is always so amazing to see these pieces of history from the Cathedral to the white city on this hilltop. A town that presents itself as art of history and the canvas is this earth we live on.
  • We stayed two days in ostuni, and we really wanted to visit the catherdral . We checked the opening time, it should be open. But each time we go there, the door was closed, and there is no any information about why it’s closed. I asked a lady she lived nearby, she told me Saturday should always open, I waited outside Saturday morning till almost 11:00am, it’s still not open. The catherdral should be very impressive, but we couldn’t give 2 stars. The service is too bad!
