Create an itinerary including Duomo di Pisa
Standing tall in Pisa's most famous square, Duomo di Pisa is a medieval cathedral dating to 1064. The church has a distinctive Pisan-Romanesque style with noticeable Byzantine influences. Admire the black-and-white marble interior, and look up at the gilded ceiling and the frescoed dome. The frescoes had to be redone after a fire in 1595 that ruined much of the cathedral's Renaissance artworks. The 14th-century mosaic in the apse survived the fire. Look for the sarcophagus of St. Ranieri, Pisa's patron saint. Put Duomo di Pisa into our Pisa holiday planning tool to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Pisa.

  • It's beautiful and magnificent. There are many pictures on the walls, stained glass windows an a nice mosaic in the middle. You can visit it free, but you still need a ticket from the ticket office. There will be pointed the time of your visit. And don't forget about right clothes for cathedral
  • Beautiful! Not too crowded, really enjoyed our time here :) the cathedral was beautiful and well worth the price. We didn't buy the all-encompassing ticket, we just bought the ticket to the Museum (7€ each), and each ticket would come with a complimentary visit to the cathedral. We felt like that was money well spent. The Museum also had a small cafe we ate at and I got the best pancakes 😍 The ticket to climb the Tower was 20€, and my bf had twisted his ankle climbing the Campanile in Florence the other day, so we decided not to go up it.
