Create an itinerary including Duomo di Pisa
Standing tall in Pisa's most famous square, Duomo di Pisa is a medieval cathedral dating to 1064. The church has a distinctive Pisan-Romanesque style with noticeable Byzantine influences. Admire the black-and-white marble interior, and look up at the gilded ceiling and the frescoed dome. The frescoes had to be redone after a fire in 1595 that ruined much of the cathedral's Renaissance artworks. The 14th-century mosaic in the apse survived the fire. Look for the sarcophagus of St. Ranieri, Pisa's patron saint. Put Duomo di Pisa into our Pisa holiday planning tool to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Pisa.

  • Lots to see and admire inside. Need a good guide, or guide book to explain it all. Average tourist walks around, takes a couple of phone photos , and leaves in 3 minutes….. .

  • So much to see!!! My family and I were blessed to attend the mass service as it is a functional church. The mass was in Italian but wow, the art all around is beautiful and the ceiling is marvellous. We enjoyed it very much plus we got Sunday mass out of it too. Win, win!!!
  • Beautiful architecture Absolutely breath taking paintings and layout. Loved it. 100% worth a visit if you're in Pisa. You can do a daily ticket which allows you to visit here plus the Pisa tower and a museum and a couple other places
