For centuries a source of respite and escape, Arashiyama offers a glimpse of natural beauty outside of Kyoto. The district has a variety of outdoor activities: visit the Japanese macaques in the monkey park, or take a rowboat out onto the lake. Don't miss the bamboo grove, a gentle uphill trail through densely packed stalks, ending at a historic imperial villa and its surrounding landscaped gardens. • Beautiful place, a bamboo forest. It is a tourist attraction at Kyoto. Quite far from the place I stayed. We needed to take a train and a bit walk to reach here. It is very huge place. I didn't manage to explore all the places due to bringing kid with stroller and parent with wheelchair. Will come again next time to explore deeper into the forest.
  • Gorgeous place to walk around. So much to see and experience. If you get there around 7 am you can skip most of the crowds and have the sights pretty much to yourself.
