Bise no Fukugi Tree Road
Next to a traditional village consisting of around 250 homes you will find Bise no Fukugi Tree Road, an exotic escape that relieves both heat and stress. Tread on the soft sandy path as a lush fukugi canopy blocks the sunlight, and distant ocean waves break against the shore. Observe the old fishers' homes, complete with traditional shoji doors and tatami matted flooring, which have utilized the surrounding trees to protect them from the typhoon season. You can also examine the green scenery by renting a bike, or better yet hitch a ride on a water buffalo-drawn cart and listen to folk stories from your eager guide. After eating at Pizza in the Sky we came here to check it out. Glad we did! Not only did we like it but our 3 and 11 year old loved it. There’s old traditional Okinawa houses, cafes spread throughout the path, historical post with information on different parts of the path, and some homes have cute decor. We went the second week of May and it was raining but it only made the experience for the kids better. The trees provided ample coverage from the rain. Lots of shade during those hot summer days coming up. It’s just very pretty and relaxing. We did the whole path (We Just followed the arrows On The stone markings) and on the way back we walked by the sea wall.

Relaxing walk in the middle of an old forest of fukugi trees (lucky trees) leading to Bisezaki Kaigan. Surrounded by the trees, it's a perfect afternoon stroll after a lunch. You can discover nice private houses, guesthouses, cafés, small shops, a few cats and so many shisa... there are a lot of hidden places there. This is very romantic! On your way back, take the seaside walk to enjoy the view, have a swim and stop for a ice cream or juice on the way.
