Kosovo's iconic Newborn Monument commemorates the small country's independence from Serbia. Unveiled on February 17, 2008, it consists of 3 m (10 ft)of block letters spelling out the word "Newborn." The letters were originally painted bright yellow and later re-painted with the flags of countries that recognized Kosovo's independence, which today amounts to just over half of UN member states. The monument is repainted differently every year and unveiled on the anniversary of the country's independence. Bring your camera along to capture photos of this significant artwork that's featured prominently on front pages all over the world. I guess the reason this sculpture was built is more important than its appearance. Very symbolic for the locals I am sure and should be. Be as a tourist attraction it wasn’t attracting much attention.

Beautiful and very colorful, you can not miss it if you pass by. Probably one of the major attractions in Prishtina.

As a landmark of the city it’d be silly not to pass by, but situated where it is and on a busy road means there isn’t a great deal else to do in the immediate area. However this does also mean (certainly every time I passed anyway) that it isn’t swamped with tourists continually and people taking photos. There’s not any signage explaining the significance which I spotted but with the ever changing design it’s something worth revisiting each time you’re in the city.

I enjoyed this "monument". It's very unique and special for Kosovo. The importance of it joined with the artistic aspect of the monument makes it a "must see" in Pristina. Its also very central too.
